Engine hours and service history
Ask for the meter reading and any service records. As a general rule, a well-maintained PWC under 100–150 hours is still in early life.
Hull and pump condition
Inspect the hull for cracks, deep scratches and signs of impact. Check the jet pump, impeller and wear ring for damage.
Ownership and registration
Confirm the seller is the legal owner and that the PWC is properly registered in the country where it's stored.
On-water test
Whenever possible, run a short on-water test. Check cold start, idle, top speed and any unusual vibration or smoke.
Trailer and storage
Ask whether a road-legal trailer is included and where the PWC has been stored (covered, dry storage is best).
Final paperwork
Use a written sales contract and keep proof of payment. Never pay in full before seeing the PWC in person.
